It’s been a while, hasn’t it? These pages haven’t been updated since who remembers when. Well, that all changes this week. We’re deep into brewfest season, and with any luck the team will be at a few of them this month and we’ll bring you our thoughts on each one we visit.
Next week is our favorite event of the year, The Vancouver Brewfest. This fest is the one that inspired me to start writing about my experiences at each event. It made me want to actually sit down and share my thoughts for the first time since I don’t know when. As an aside, though, it always has some of the best beers available in the northwest.
The best part about Vancouver Brewfest is that they support the Northwest Battle Buddies charity. This organization is one that I admire because it blends two things that are important in my life, military veterans and dogs. Yep, you read that right, they help provide returning veterans, most with disabilities from their time at war, with a lifelong friend. If you haven’t heard of them, please check them out as soon as you can.
Look for some more info on our time at the brewfest when I return next week. Until then, go try a beer you haven’t had before. In my case, I’ll be checking out WIZRD from Yakima Craft Brewing Company. According to the can, this IPA is “brewed with actual magic.” Seriously, though, it’s a 93 IBU IPA sitting at about 6.07% ABV and sports a generous helping of Mosaic hops that were grown right there in the local Yakima Valley.
